New recruitment help for small firms

This feature was published on Business Europe, a Govt-backed Business support network with over 125000 members announcing SME support from Job Jobbed Limited. This was also subsequently published on the websites of the British Chambers of Commerce, The Small Business Service (DTI), Lloyds TSB, NPower, British Gas, and various other Business and Industry Links.

"A new website has been set up to help small and mediums-sized firms recruit the right employees.

The site, called jobjobbed.com, gives bosses the opportunity to advertise vacancies online, select people for interview from a database of candidates, or send information about opportunities direct to people via email.
The company's Director, Robert Ellis, says the site currently attracts up to 3,500 visits everyday from small companies and people seeking work. It was officially launched in June.
Ellis, a former recruitment consultant, says he often found it difficult to match high calibre candidates with businesses. This was especially the case for smaller companies, which lack the financial clout to advertise jobs in the national press or on popular websites.
"Web-based recruitment may well be a new concept for many SMEs and may be one that they would not normally consider," he said. "I found that generally it was my clients running the smaller business that most needed the expertise that a professional recruiter could bring."
Employers can advertise on the site for free, but are charged for access to the logbook of candidates. Ellis told Business Europe that the service has matched "a large number" of workers to businesses and public sector organisations. However, there were no exact details available.
Recent surveys suggest that SMEs find it hard to attract the best workers, because these are often poached by big companies offering high salaries and generous benefits packages. "
