ONLINE JOB SITE TAKES ON AUTO SECTOR
CHALLENGE
By Keith Moody
This article was published in AM Magazine (Automotive Management)
on 5th July 2002 featuring Job Jobbed's range of services for the
Automotive Sector.
AA
new interactive service is being launched to tackle the shortage
of new blood coming in to the motor industry. Online recruitment
website Job Jobbed is teaming up with the Retail Motor Industry
Federation's training division - ReMIT - to attract fresh candidates
to a career in the motor industry.
Job
Jobbed (www.jobjobbed.com) is an internet-based recruitment facility
that services a range of industrial sectors - but it is one of the
first to have a dedicated section for the automotive industry. "We
need to attract new workers in to the industrial sector, to learn
the trades and skills for our collective future stability and success,"
says Rupert Ellis, principal of the operation. "When the recession
hit in the 1990's the companies did away with apprenticeships in
a bid to make themselves leaner and fitter. The result of this is
the industry is now suffering a skills shortage,"
The
site, with a link to ReMIT, is configured to receive job applications
and CV's from automotive candidates and show regularly updated trade
situations vacant.
ReMIT
trains 8500 young people through modern apprenticeships. Skills
covered are mechanics and systems, service reception, retail car
sales, body repair, parts administration, motorcycle mechanics and
systems as well as administration skills.
With
financial backing from the Government, ReMIT has joint training
projects with vehicle manufacturers to boost the training available
to its dealership networks.
