Unlucky Break postpones Dog Shelter
Fund Raiser!
Adopting
an abandoned dog from Gloucestershire Animal Shelter - Teckels,
had such a profound and positive effect that Gloucestershire employment
specialist, Rupert Ellis, decided to actively support their activities
with some fund-raising through his recruitment business, www.JobJobbed.com
.
"We
could not have been more fortunate when adopting "Beavis"
and it was obvious that the staff at Teckels put their heart and
soul into the care of their animals. It just seemed appropriate
to do something to help support their activities" said Rupert.
Preparations
were well underway for a sponsored long-distance cycle ride when
Rupert tripped over his dog Beavis, dislocating and breaking both
his right ankle and leg. Following an emergency operation to reconstruct
his injuries at Gloucestershire's Royal NHS Trust Hospital, Rupert
now faces several months in plaster before getting back in the saddle.
"Things
had been going really well and we had already raised over £350
through auctioning football memorabilia with the help of Arsenal
Football Club when things took a turn for the worst" said Rupert.
"It
could have been worse", he continued, "had he realised
that there were bones in there, he would probably have buried me
in the garden with his others!"
Teckels'
annual dog show and fund raiser takes place on Sunday 8th September
at the Attwoolls Camping Centre, Bristol Road, Whitminster where
many of the shelter's re-homed dogs return and meet up to raise
funds for the centre.
