UK National Reference Point:
International
Transparency of Vocational Qualifications
What does the UK NRP do?
1.
NRP is the UK's primary information source for UK vocational qualifications.
The department's vast databank of qualification information is built
upon the information compiled over the years by NARIC. (Both departments
were set up by the DfES to help to increase international qualification
transparency.)
2.
NRP specialises in the assessment of international vocational
qualifications, by providing:
·
The comparable UK course
· Course Synopsis - subject relevance
· Details of Grading Systems
Who
benefits from NRP services?
1.
UK Recruiters - companies and employment agencies alike. When there
is a need to employ international candidates, the NRP team can produce
custom-made project-work or benchmarking exercises. Bulk assessment
services are also offered to organisations that have a regular need
to assess or recognise overseas qualifications. In addition to this
is the availability of InterSkills, a software database listing
vocational qualifications across the globe, which companies can
subscribe to on a yearly basis. Whichever service is chosen, the
result is freed-up HR time and improved recruitment decision-making.
2.
UK vocational qualification holders who want assistance with qualification
recognition issues - in fact, anyone in the UK who needs information
on vocational qualifications for whatever reason.
3.
Jobseekers from outside of the UK - with a focus on international
skilled workers and technicians. A qualification assessment service
containing UK comparison information is available to assist the
jobseeker in his or her targeting of UK employment relevant to their
experience and skills.
