Overview of the Guidance Notes Section

Hello and welcome to Job Jobbed's guidance section for candidates who are "looking for work". This section is designed to give you an overview and some direction in your approach to the recruitment process in order that you may be better equipped and prepared for the gauntlet that lies ahead!
For ease, we have broken this down into a number of bite-sized chunks so that you may focus on what is relevant to your own scenario and therefore digest the content more easily. While the respective writers and contributors have a wealth of experience in selection, recruitment and employment, the assembled comments and notes are designed purely as advice and should stimulate you to consider alternatives in your approach. We have looked at each aspect of the recruitment process from the point of view of an employer, a recruitment agency and from your viewpoint too, but without knowing your specific circumstances, it is impossible to be anything other than generalist in our approach.
The sections that we have identified as those requiring specific focus are as follows:
Your curriculum vitae - the bait on the hook!
Covering letters, Application Forms, Research, Preparation and Planning your Strategy for Success.
The Recruitment Process and your role in it.
Interviews and how to deal with them.
Assessment centres, Psychometric Tests and other scary stuff.
Dealing with Recruitment Agencies.
Research Sites and Additional Tips.

We hope you enjoy this material and hope that it is of benefit to you while you are "looking for work"
