Welcome to Job Jobbed's Candidate Section for people "looking
for Work". This guide should assist you in registering your
details in the most appropriate manner for you to find a position
that is right for you. We suggest that you copy or print these notes
for your guidance while registering on-line.
From the Candidates Menu you will notice that there are two options
available; firstly "View jobs on-line" which allows you
to see a selection of the vacancies available displayed in most
recent date order by industry category. This option will not allow
you to apply for the advertised position, neither will it allow
you full access to the facility. The second option, "Register
with Job Jobbed" (the button situated at the bottom left of
the menu) allows you to register yourself, your profile and your
CV. This has many benefits and allows you to apply for jobs on-line
and also allows your details to be accessed by literally thousands
of recruiters who may be looking for a candidate just like you!
First Registration Page - about YOU and
your requirements!
Once you select the "Register with Job Jobbed" option
you will be presented with a registration form. To commence this
process, select the e-mail address box and enter the address that
you wish to use for communications with this site. Once you have
entered your e-mail address, use either the tab key or your mouse
to navigate around the form. You will be prompted to add your first
and last names and your date of birth together with your sex and
address. Please be sure to complete these sections fully. Later
you will be asked for your contact telephone numbers. (We would
suggest caution before adding your work number to this section.)
You will be prompted for a password which you must select, enter
and verify before moving on. Please ensure that this is something
that you will easily remember but that it remains secure and private
to you. Similarly, we would suggest that using your name or the
words "password" "secret" or similar should
be avoided!
At the bottom-left of this form there are sections for Salary requirements
and Hourly rates, the latter of which is generally only applicable
to contract or temporary workers. Please be aware that while we
would all like to earn a minimum of £100000 plus per year,
these categories are used by recruiters in their search for candidates.
We would therefore suggest a realistic and sensible approach to
this section.
Using your mouse, select up to four industry sectors from the table
to the right of this form. It may be that your skills and experience
are appropriate to more than one category? Perhaps you are flexible
in your approach to and expectations of work Either way, your details
will be accessible and circulated to recruiters via industry sector
and your choices will also allow you to receive the latest jobs
in these sectors via e-mail. Similarly, you will now be prompted
for details on the type of work you are looking for, permanent,
contract, part-time etc, together with your preferred location.
This is especially relevant as this will determine who we will send
your details to and which jobs we send to you. This is also a searchable
option for recruiters so please be specific in your selection.
Finally, before you submit your details, we invite you to enter
up to 9 "Skills Keywords" which you feel support and describe
your experiences, skills and abilities. These are searchable by
our clients and could assist your registration further. Please add
one word per box to support your registration. If you are an administrator
then words such as "administration" "typing"
"spreadsheets" and "clerical" may be appropriate,
whereas an engineer may choose "CAD" "engineering"
"manufacturing" and "installation" or a Communications
Specialist may choose "3G" "telephony" "LAN"
or "Broadband". It is important to be specific in your
choice of words as "office" has obvious Microsoft implications
and words such as "honesty" "integrity" and
recruiters rarely search "enthusiastic".
Once you have completed this process, select the "Submit Registration"
option at the left hand side, which will load the second section
of this process.
Second Registration Page - Your CV and Access
Options
The second page of the registration process will invite you to
add your CV to our secure database. This is a simple "copy
and paste" exercise and can be achieved by first opening your
CV on your browser and then drag your mouse over the document with
the left hand button depressed, highlighting all of the content
before right-clicking on your mouse to "copy" and then
use the same right button to "paste" into the text box
on the registration page. Alternatively, with your CV document open,
click on the "Edit" option at the top-left hand side of
your screen, then click on the "Select all" button before
right-clicking with your mouse to "copy" and then "paste"
into the registration form.
As recruiters have such a volume of applications to search through,
we have a "First Impressions" section for your completion
which serves as both an introduction to you as a candidate and provides
a summary of your career expectations and skills. This section is
searchable by recruiters looking for workers and we would suggest
that you be as concise, specific and honest as possible in order
to attract interest from relevant recruiters. We limit this section
to XXX characters. Examples of what we would recommend would be:
"Skilled and experienced Administrator / Secretary with a
broad range of skills (typing / shorthand / reception) and full
PC literacy (Office Pro and NT) seeks rewarding, stable, long-term
employment in West London"
"Graduate Web Developer with 2 years practical experience
and 3 completed reference project completed seeks medium term assignment
in the South west (Glos / Avon) Macromedia / Flash and firewalls
experience and good knowledge of servers / routers. Will relocate"
"Design engineer with CAD / CATIA 2D and 3D modelling and
experience within engine design environment for automotive and aviation
industries seeks fresh challenge in West Midlands. FMEA experience
and relevant FE knowledge transfereable"
You will now be invited to opt into the "Vacancy Express"
- jobs by e-mail service where our server will send you regular
updates of appropriate jobs in the area's that you have specified
as being of interest to you. Similarly, you will be asked to approve
your details being made available on a limited or general access
basis. This also refers to our "Resume Express" service
for recruiters. Clearly, to be successful in your application for
a vacancy, the recruiter will need to have access to your CV and
we recommend that you allow general access to your details in order
to expose yourself to all relevant employment opportunities that
become available. By adding your CV to the website we will assume
that you are happy for your CV to be searchable by our clients although
if you would rather not accept this option, please make your selection
accordingly. We would also refer you to our privacy statement and
to our terms and conditions for further information.
Finally you will be asked to "Submit Registration" again
to add your profile to the site. That's all there is to it - Job
Jobbed!

Profile Analysis
Editing your Details
If at any stage you want to amend your details or requirements,
perhaps in terms of salary expectations or geographic location,
then simply log into the "Looking for Work" section using
your e-mail address and personal password and you will have the
ability to edit your details in the same way that you added them.
You can also add a new copy of your CV too or choose to request
that your details be removed.
Upload a Covering Letter
Sometimes our visitors like to forward a covering letter to accompany
their application. Notes and advice regarding covering letters can
be found elsewhere on the site and it is purely optional should
you choose to use this function. Please also be aware that not all
of our recruiters will elect to accept or read these notes and we
would strongly recommend that all relevant information pertinent
to your application be contained in your CV.
Search Vacancies
When you are "looking for work" you will be prompted
to view vacancies via specific sectors. These sectors are both Industry
Specific and Geographic in their selection, which will speed up
your search considerably, showing you only the positions that are
relevant to you. You can also select just "Hot Jobs" (these
are dealt with later). A third option is to select jobs by "Skills
Keyword". This is specifically relevant within sectors such
as IT or Telecoms.
These search options can be used individually or in tandem with
the others to more closely focus on jobs relevant to you, i.e. IT
Sector & London & Programmer. Upon selection of the various
criteria there will be displayed a scrolling summary of our various
vacancies, with the most recent displayed first. You will therefore
be able to quickly browse for positions of relevance to you.
The details displayed will include a Job Title and the industry
sector that it relates to. You will also find details of salary
information, who has posted the vacancy and a brief description
of the job itself. If you want to learn more about this vacancy
then simply click on the "Full Description" button. The
description will appear in a new window on your screen and you can
print this off for your personal records if you wish.
For speed of download we only display a limited selection of the
vacancies at any one time. To continue to view more jobs, simply
click the "next" icon at the bottom-left hand corner of
the page.
Applying for a Job
Once you have read the full description you can close the window
and move on. This will allow you to continue reviewing the advertisements
or to "Apply for the Position". If you choose to apply,
this will open a new window and will allow you to e-mail your CV
directly to the recruiter. This will already have the job reference
number supplied by the recruiter itemised in the subject box and
you will also be able to attach a formatted CV and add your personal
comments to your application at this time. If you choose not to
personalise your application the following phrase will accompany
your e-mail and is added by default:
"I have seen your advertisement on the JobJobbed.com recruitment
website and I am looking for work. I would like to apply for this
position and I have attached my CV to this application. I look forward
to hearing from you".
Navigation
At any stage you can navigate around the site by using the "Candidates
Menu" located at the top-left hand corner of each page. Simply
click on the menu icon and you will be presented by numerous options.
Don't forget to check out the "Diversions" section before
you go!
Psychometric Profile Analysis
We discuss this useful recruitment tool in depth within our Advice
section but if you would like to discover what your future employer
may be reading about you or would like to more fully prepare yourself
for those difficult interview questions or perhaps you are at a
career cross-roads and would like to identify your ideal working
environment, click here to receive interpretation and advice from
some of the UK's top experts in this field.
Hot Jobs
As you navigate the vacancies you will also become aware of "Hot
Jobs" which tend to stand out. These are vacancies which the
recruiter has chosen to highlight as being particularly important,
urgent, difficult to fill or of a high profile or other specific
importance. If you're search for work is urgent or you have specifically
unique skills that have a limited demand or exclusive relevance
then you may find that "Hot Jobs" are of particular interest
to you.
Uniformity
Finally, we would advise you that with the wide variety of fonts
styles and formats of CV, this could be confusing and perhaps delay
consideration of your profile. And as a candidate you should be
aware that recruitment consultants and company recruiters often
get several hundred applicants per day to consider. Because of the
high volume and variety of format's many of today's modern recruiters
utilise specialist software packages to process the variety of CV's
received. For this reason we forward your CV to our clients as basic
text documents and it may be that if the content of your profile
is attractive, you may subsequently be asked for a "best"
copy by the recruiter.
Good luck in "Looking for Work"
